Tampa Pizzeria Opening St Pete Location

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Fabrica Woodfired Pizza in Tampa is planning a second location, on the ground floor of St. Petersburg’s The Hermitage apartment building at 151 7th St. S.

The restaurant, which started in the Channel district almost two years ago, will occupy nearly 2,000 square feet, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

A Neapolitan-style pizzeria which also offers salads, Italian appetizers and gelato, the restaurant will have delivery service available via Uber Eats. There’s no firm date for the new opening, but Estefania Perez, who co-owns the restaurant’s concept with her husband, Jonathan, expects it to be by the end of the year.

Top Chefs Come Together to Raise Money for PARC

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, May 17, 2017

PARC’s third annual Top Chefs event will take place at The Birchwood in their Grand Ballroom on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Top Chefs raises financial support and awareness for PARC’s Culinary Arts Program and the opportunities it provides to individuals with special needs. It teaches those in the program to cook for themselves and pick nutritious and well-rounded recipes, giving them more independence. Most importantly, the program also trains and certifies each individual for future job opportunities in our local, thriving hospitality industry. Multiple graduates from the program have been placed in kitchens throughout Pinellas County and are earning impressive salaries.

“PARC is extremely fortunate to have a friend in Laurie Stogniew, Top Chefs Chair since inception,” said Monica Lukasik, Director of Marketing and Communications. “Laurie helped bring this event to life three years ago and has been integral in connecting PARC to the restaurants, chefs, and sponsors as well as making this event one of the organization’s signature events.”

PARC’s Top Chefs fundraiser has become a “must attend” local event and sells out annually. Its popularity is due to the pairing of top restaurants and their chefs with students from the Culinary Teaching Kitchen @ PARC to serve delicious food and showcase the collaboration of all participants for an invaluable training experience.

Restaurants scheduled to attend include Birch & Vine at The Birchwood, Guppy’s, Rusty’s Bistro at The Sheraton Sand Key, 1200 Chophouse, Clear Sky on Cleveland, and Tryst. Jenn Holloway, from WFLA News Channel 8, will serve as the emcee for the event. Open bar and signature drinks will be provided by Breakthru Beverage Group and desserts will be provided by LeAnn’s Cheesecakes.

PARC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities to exercise their independence and experience life to the fullest. Established in 1953, PARC currently serves more than 800 individuals in the greater Tampa Bay area.

St Pete Yarn Shop Moving, Expanding

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Big news from St Pete resident Kristin Lohr, owner of Stash. She is moving her business to larger digs, at 2820 First Ave N in the Grand Central District,

Kristin writes:

It was 3 years ago last month that Shush and I signed the lease for Stash in the eclectic and quirky 600 block. We knew we had found the perfect location for our little shop. We have wonderful neighbors who have become friends, and a great community of knitters who have also become friends. I really couldn't be happier. However, if you've been to a knit night lately you know we are busting at the seams and so we're making the leap to a bigger location!

At the end of May, exact timelines are not yet known, we'll pack up all the yarny goodness and head just 2 miles west to 2820 1st Ave N. Our new "home" actually was a home at one time and includes all the things we need to grow Stash into its potential.

That means MORE YARN, more classes, more events AND our very own parking spots! We'll also be able to knit outside and enjoy our lovely weather when we can. Stay tuned for updates!
